THE GREATEST HITS OF MR. X -- CLIVE STEVENS

AN OVERVIEW OF THE NEW PROJECT

Steve Gaboury (keyboardist/producer) and myself, Clive Stevens were sat around in his 24 track recording studio on Chambers Street, Lower Manhattan in New York City when he suggested that he produce a project of my greatest tracks from my recording career. He has stored most of my 24 track master tapes and CD masters at his studio.

These tapes survived 9/11 and in order to be salvaged from disintegration after 20 plus years, the 2 inch masters have to be specially baked in an oven so they can be transferred to Pro Tools (a digital software program) allowing them to be remixed in the digital realm.

The first track "Marquis de Byron" has yet to be created and will be dedicated to Miles Davis. Six of the tracks come from my previous vinyl albums, Semjase, New York Street Walk & the stereo E.P. “Brainchild". Four tracks come from my Metalimbo Records CD release "Language of Secret Hearts" and one track from my second Metalimbo CD "Millennium Jams".

Many musicians, friends and fellow creative artists have mentioned how timeless this music is and that is the greatest compliment any musician/composer can receive. All of this music reflects true-life experiences and the lyrics tell true stories.

Even though I have remained an underground artist for most of my career, I love to create music and poetry at a very high level of sophistication and innovation, always working with cutting edge musicians who, on these trax, include drummers Steve Ferrone, J.T. Lewis, and the late Winston Grennan. Bassists Lincoln Goines and Fernando Saunders. Guitarists Ronnie "head" Drayton, Jeff Golub and Barry Finnerty. Percussionists Nana Vasconcelos, Sammy Figueroa, Manolo Badrena, Frank Colon and Mino Cinelu. Keyboardists Steve Gaboury, Philip Woo and Peter Valentine. Vocalists Jeff Young, Roberta Baum, Karen Michaels, B.J. Nelson and Cecilia Engelhart.
